Funeral of Lady Sapiens

FUNERAL OF LADY SAPIENS is a dark and satirical funeral service for the late-capitalist subject. In an overwhelming, “too much” ritualistic and fragmented text, the woman is buried – along with the idea of the contemporary human, and perhaps society itself. This is a lamentation, exposing the self-optimizing machinery in its most intimate corners: the body, motherhood, working life, and sexuality. The human becomes part of the Church of Society – and the question arises: can we remain inside the temple we built ourselves and still demand change – or do we have to die in order to do so? It is an exploration of how the ideologies of our time live within us – not just as thoughts, but as physical, embodied truths. Through the burial of “Lady Sapiens,” we attempt to kill the idea of the human as a fixed entity. This is not therapy. Or maybe it is? Perhaps a battle cry. Or a final gasp. A prayer, a psalm, and a hyperventilating breath.
– Only through pain can transformation occur.
